Acuity Scheduling and Squarespace Share an Owner, Not a Database.
Acuity Scheduling and Squarespace are both owned by Squarespace, Inc., sold as a bundled add-on sometimes labeled Squarespace Scheduling inside a Squarespace dashboard. A Squarespace site includes a ready-made block for embedding Acuity's booking calendar on any page. Even so, the two stay separate systems behind the scenes: Squarespace's own store, members, and contact records don't automatically know anything about an appointment booked through the embedded Acuity widget.
What the Squarespace connection actually gets you
A built-in embed block. Squarespace's page editor includes an Acuity Scheduling block you can drop onto any page, no separate account linking needed beyond connecting the two once.
Shared billing, separate data. Buying Acuity Scheduling through your Squarespace account puts it on one bill, but it doesn't merge the two products' underlying data.
A booking page that works outside Squarespace too. Acuity Scheduling remains a standalone product usable on any website, or with no website at all, independent of whether it's embedded inside a Squarespace site.
Still a separate client record. A client who books through the embedded widget gets a record in Acuity Scheduling's own client list, not Squarespace's.
Where the two systems stay separate
Squarespace Commerce orders, Squarespace Members and subscriptions, and Squarespace's own contact list don't link to Acuity's client records on their own. A client who buys a package through your Squarespace store and later books an appointment to redeem it through the embedded Acuity widget shows up as two unconnected entries unless something bridges the two.
This matters most for businesses selling packages, memberships, or gift cards through Squarespace Commerce that are meant to be redeemed as Acuity appointments. Without a connection built between the two, staff ends up manually checking a separate Squarespace order list to confirm a client actually paid before honoring the booking.
Where this tends to show up
A Squarespace purchase tied to the Acuity booking that redeems it
A package or membership bought through Squarespace Commerce gets linked automatically to the client's Acuity Scheduling record, so staff isn't cross-checking a separate order list before honoring a booking.
Member or subscriber status checked before a reserved slot opens up
A Squarespace Member or active subscriber status gets verified automatically before someone can book a slot meant only for paying members, instead of relying on staff to catch it after the fact.

Selling through Squarespace Commerce and booking through Acuity Scheduling, with nothing linking the two?
Sharing a parent company doesn't mean sharing a database, and that gap between Squarespace Commerce and Acuity Scheduling's client records is a real one we close for businesses that sell what they later book. It's not limited to this pairing of tools either. Any two systems your business runs side by side that should talk to each other but don't are worth the same fix.
