A client pays through LawPay. Does the matter know?

LawPay is built so a law firm can take cards without mixing client money with operating money. The payment is the easy part. Getting it recorded on the right matter, in the right ledger, with a receipt out the door is where the staff time goes.

Where LawPay stops

The payment clears, but recording it on the right matter and the right ledger still falls to staff.

Got a LawPay problem? Let's solve it →

Why the payment is only half the job

A retainer comes in. Someone has to record it against the client and the matter, confirm it went to trust, and tell the attorney. If that happens a day late, nobody can say what's in the account.

Operating payments follow different rules, and the mistake law firms fear most is a payment landing on the wrong side. We build the routing so each payment follows the rule you set before it's posted.

Then there's the invoice itself. A payment link on every bill gets firms paid faster, but only if it's attached automatically and the payment clears back to the invoice when it's paid.

None of this changes how you work with LawPay. It just stops depending on someone's memory at five o'clock on a Friday.

What we build around LawPay

01

Payments on the matter

Each payment is recorded on the right client and matter in your case management system as soon as it clears.

02

Trust and operating, kept apart

Routing follows your rules, so a retainer and a fee payment never get mixed.

03

Payment links on every invoice

The link attaches itself, and a paid invoice closes out without anyone clicking.

04

Receipts and reconciliation

Clients get a receipt right away, and the totals reach your books ready to reconcile.

One of our recent projects

Small General Practice Firm

LawPay for card payments.

The problemA retainer arrives through LawPay and a staff member records it against the matter, confirms it went to trust and tells the attorney, sometimes a day late.

Payments are routed to trust or operating by the firm's rules, recorded on the matter as they clear and receipted to the client. The attorney sees it the same day.

Questions people ask

What is LawPay?

A payment processor made for legal practices, designed to keep client trust funds and operating funds separate.

Does it work with case management software?

It connects with several of the common legal platforms. We handle the cases where the built-in link stops short of what your process needs.
