iManage Files Everything by Matter. We Connect That to the Rest of the Firm.

iManage is the matter-centric document and email management system behind iManage Work, the product most firms mean when they say "iManage," run either on iManage Cloud or on-premise, with FileSite or iManage Drive as the client people actually open day to day. We don't implement or administer iManage. We build the integrations that connect its matter filing to the practice management, billing, and communication tools a firm runs around it.

What we build on top of iManage

A matter opening in your practice management software and a workspace existing in iManage are two separate facts until something ties them together. We build that connection, so a new matter number and its metadata create the matching iManage workspace automatically, instead of someone setting it up twice.

Document and version events inside iManage can drive work outside it. A document moving to a final or executed state is a real signal; we wire that signal to a task, a notification, or a billing entry in whatever system actually needs to know.

Firms running iManage RecordsManager have a real retention and disposition schedule sitting inside iManage. We surface that schedule and its upcoming actions to the staff who need to act on it, rather than leaving it as something only the records team happens to check.

Where iManage exposes its API, that's the layer we build on: pulling matter and document activity into firm-wide reporting, or pushing matter data in, instead of someone re-keying what already exists in iManage into a second system.

Where this shows up in practice

Matter opens, workspace follows

A new matter created in your practice management system creates the matching iManage workspace with the right client and matter metadata attached, so filing is correct from the first document.

Document status, visible without an iManage login

A document reaching final or executed status in iManage shows up as an update wherever your team actually works, so checking on it doesn't mean opening a separate system.

What's still manual between iManage and the rest of your systems?

A billing handoff, a records deadline nobody catches until it's late, a report built by hand once a month: tell us what it is and we'll look at what iManage's API can expose for it.

Running iManage and still patching the gaps with manual re-entry?

Tell us what's not connected to iManage right now, your practice management system, your billing software, a records deadline that depends on someone remembering. We'll look at what iManage's own API can expose for it. And if iManage isn't actually where the friction lives, that's fine too. Whatever else in the firm still runs on manual re-entry is fair game.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is iManage?+
A document and email management system built for law firms, built around iManage Work: everything gets filed and found by client, matter, and author metadata instead of a folder structure. It's one of the two dominant systems in legal document management, alongside NetDocuments.
What's the difference between iManage Work and iManage Cloud?+
iManage Work is the product itself, the document and email management system. iManage Cloud is one way to run it: iManage hosts and manages the infrastructure, instead of the firm running Work on its own servers on-premise. Same product, different deployment.
What are FileSite and iManage Drive?+
Both are client tools for getting at iManage documents without opening a separate app. FileSite is the plugin that puts iManage filing directly inside Outlook and Office, so saving or filing an email happens from the same window someone's already working in. iManage Drive maps iManage documents as a drive letter on the desktop, so other software that expects regular files can see them.
How much does iManage cost?+
iManage doesn't publish standard pricing. Cost depends on firm size, deployment (Cloud vs on-premise), and which modules a firm needs, including add-ons like RecordsManager, so an actual quote comes from iManage or a reseller directly.
Does iManage have an API for integrations?+
Yes. iManage exposes an API that lets other systems read and write workspace, document, and matter metadata, which is what custom integrations, including the ones we build, run on instead of manual exports or screen scraping.
iManage vs NetDocuments: what's the difference?+
Both are matter-centric document management systems for law firms, competing on the same fundamentals: security, search, and getting firms off folder-based filing. iManage has a longer on-premise history with Cloud as a newer hosted option; NetDocuments was built cloud-native from the start. We don't sell or recommend either one, we build automation around whichever a firm already runs.
