EasyPost

EasyPost Is an API. We Build What Runs On Top of It.

EasyPost doesn't have a dashboard you log into to ship things. It's an API that generates labels, shops rates across carriers, verifies addresses, and reports tracking events, built to be called from code. We build that code: the webhook that creates a label the instant an order needs one, the logic that picks the right carrier automatically, and the tracking view your customers actually see.

What we build on top of EasyPost

Label generation triggered by your own events. EasyPost creates a label the instant you call it, so we wire that call to the moment it should happen: an order marked ready to ship in your warehouse system, a subscription renewal, a return getting approved. Nobody opens a dashboard, because there isn't one to open.

Rate shopping logic that lives in your checkout or fulfillment flow. EasyPost returns rates across the carriers you've connected. The decision about which rate to actually book, cheapest, fastest, a specific carrier for a specific zone, is logic we write and plug directly into your order flow.

Tracking events turned into something a person can see. EasyPost reports tracking updates over webhooks, but it doesn't hand you a branded page or a support-desk sidebar. We build the piece that turns those events into a tracking page, a Slack alert, or an update inside your help desk.

Address verification before a label gets created, not after. EasyPost can check an address before a shipment goes out. We build that check into checkout or order entry itself, so a bad address gets caught early instead of becoming an undeliverable package three days later.

Where that shows up

A label the moment an order's ready

No dashboard, no person clicking a button. The order event fires, EasyPost returns a label, your system stores the tracking number.

The right carrier, picked automatically

Cheapest, fastest, or whatever rule your business actually uses, applied the same way every time instead of depending on who's shipping that day.

Tracking updates that reach people, not just logs

A webhook firing into your system isn't the same as a customer knowing their package is delayed. We build the bridge between the two.

Building shipping into your own product or backend with EasyPost?

Tell us where the labels, rates, or tracking events need to land, your order system, your support tool, a tracking page you haven't built yet. We'll scope what it actually takes to wire it together and get it running. And if EasyPost isn't the piece slowing you down, that's fine, we build automation wherever the manual work actually sits in your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EasyPost?+
EasyPost is a shipping API: a way for a business's own software to generate labels, compare carrier rates, verify addresses, and get tracking updates, all through API calls instead of a dashboard. It's built for developers wiring shipping into an existing product or backend, not for someone who wants to log in and click a button.
Does EasyPost have a tracking page I can send customers?+
Not out of the box. EasyPost reports tracking events to your system over webhooks and its API, but it doesn't give you a hosted, branded page to hand a customer. Building that page, or piping those events into a support tool or CRM, is exactly the kind of thing we build on top of the API.
How do I get an EasyPost API key?+
From your EasyPost account, under API Keys, you'll find separate test and production keys. Use the test key while you're building, then switch to the production key once you're actually generating real labels.
What carriers does EasyPost support?+
EasyPost connects to a long list of carriers, USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and a wide range of regional and international ones, through one API instead of integrating with each carrier separately. Which carriers actually show up for you depends on which ones you've connected or have accounts with.
How is EasyPost different from ShipStation or Shippo?+
ShipStation is a dashboard built for someone to log in, manage orders across channels, and print labels by hand or with built-in rules. EasyPost and Shippo are both API-first, with no dashboard to speak of, built to be called from your own code. Between those two, the differences come down to carrier coverage, pricing, and how the API itself is designed.
How much does EasyPost cost?+
EasyPost doesn't charge a flat subscription the way a dashboard tool does. Pricing is usage-based and tied to the carriers and volume you're running through it, with the underlying postage cost separate from any EasyPost fee. Check EasyPost's own pricing page for current numbers since they vary by carrier and volume.
