Gusto Handles Payroll and HR. We Connect It to Everything Around It.
Gusto is cloud payroll, benefits, and HR software built for small and midsize businesses: it runs pay, files payroll taxes, manages benefits enrollment, and covers the core HR side of having employees. Once Gusto is running your payroll, we build the automation around it, so new hires, hours worked, and HR data move in and out of Gusto without anyone retyping them somewhere else.
Gusto itself handles the payroll run cleanly: wages get calculated, taxes get filed, direct deposits go out. What it doesn't automatically handle is everything happening around that run, in the other systems your business actually uses day to day.
A new hire gets added in Gusto, and now someone still has to create their email account, add them to Slack, get them into whatever tool tracks their hours, and tell their manager they're starting Monday. An hourly employee's time gets tracked in a scheduling tool that has nothing to do with Gusto, so someone exports hours and keys them in before every pay run. HR wants to know who's taking time off next month, and the honest answer is "log into Gusto and check," because nowhere else has that information.
What We Build on Top of Gusto
New hire, handled everywhere at once
The moment onboarding is completed in Gusto, we trigger everything that used to happen by hand afterward: an email and Slack account get created, the person gets added to the right project or client in your PM tool, and their manager gets a note that they're starting. Nobody has to remember to loop HR's work back around to the rest of the stack.
Hours flow into Gusto, not out of someone's memory
If your hourly staff track time in a scheduling or field-service tool that isn't Gusto, we sync those hours into Gusto automatically ahead of each pay run, so nobody's exporting a spreadsheet and double-checking the math before payroll goes out.
What's actually manual around your payroll?
Gusto runs the payroll piece well on its own. Everything connected to it, onboarding, time tracking, getting HR data to the people who need it, is usually where the real manual work lives. Tell us what that looks like at your business.

Running payroll in Gusto and still doing everything around it by hand?
Tell us what's manual once Gusto's done its part, onboarding new hires, tracking hours, getting HR data where people can actually see it. We'll look at it and tell you what's worth fixing first. And if payroll isn't actually your bottleneck, that's fine too, we build on top of whatever's slowing your team down, not just Gusto.
