DrChrono ships with an open API. Is anything actually using it?
DrChrono is cloud-based EHR and practice management software built around an iPad-friendly charting experience, used by a lot of smaller independent practices, with a genuinely open, well-documented developer API behind it. That API is exactly what makes DrChrono one of the more connectable systems on the market. The problem is most practices never go past what ships out of the box. We build the intake, billing, and referral automation on top of DrChrono's API that most practices never get around to setting up.
What We Build on Top of DrChrono
A new patient fills out a paper form in the waiting room, and front-desk staff key it into DrChrono afterward. We connect your online intake form directly to DrChrono through its API, so the patient record is already there before anyone opens an iPad.
Unpaid balances in DrChrono tend to sit until someone runs a billing report and starts making phone calls. We build the automation that flags overdue balances and sends a text or email reminder with a payment link, pulled straight from DrChrono's own billing status.
Appointment reminders and basic recall, patients overdue for a follow-up visit, patients who haven't scheduled in a while, usually need someone to pull a list and start calling. We build that into a scheduled automation that runs off DrChrono's own appointment data.
If referrals come in from other providers and get tracked nowhere in particular, we connect that data to a simple tracking view so you know where new patients are actually coming from.
A Real-World Scenario: Solo Specialty Practice
One provider, running DrChrono on iPads at the front desk and in every exam room.
Before
A new patient fills out a paper intake form, and the medical assistant types it into DrChrono between appointments. Overdue balances pile up in a billing report nobody opens until the end of the month, when someone finally sits down and starts calling patients one by one.
After
The patient fills out a web intake form before arriving, and it creates or updates their DrChrono record automatically through the API. Patients with an overdue balance get a text with a payment link the moment the balance crosses 30 days, no one has to remember to run the report.
Running DrChrono and never actually touched its API?
Tell us what's still happening on paper or in a spreadsheet around DrChrono, intake, billing follow-up, referral tracking, and we'll look at what's worth building. And if DrChrono isn't where your real bottleneck is, that's fine too, we automate whatever's manual in the practice.
