AdvancedMD Has an API. Getting Access Is the First Build.
AdvancedMD offers API access for integration partners and vendors it approves, plus a marketplace of prebuilt third-party connections a practice can turn on for things like patient engagement, clearinghouses, and e-prescribing. Neither one is self-serve: the API runs through a partner agreement rather than a signup page, and the Marketplace only covers the integrations someone already built. We work within whichever path actually gets access, API where AdvancedMD grants it, and browser automation for whatever's left outside it.
What's actually available: the API and the Marketplace
AdvancedMD's API documentation describes a real, structured interface, but getting credentials against it isn't something a practice or a small vendor does on their own. Access typically goes through AdvancedMD's partner program, which means an approval process and usually a business relationship with AdvancedMD itself before any code gets written.
The AdvancedMD Marketplace is the more approachable path for most practices: a directory of partner apps that already connect to AdvancedMD for things like patient reminders, e-prescribing, or claims clearinghouse services. Turning one on is usually simpler than building a custom integration, but it only solves the problems someone already built an app for. A workflow that isn't on that list still has to be handled by hand or built custom.
What happens when neither path covers your workflow
Most of the integration requests we actually see from medical practices aren't on AdvancedMD's Marketplace list, and the API program isn't something a solo practice can usually get approved for on its own timeline. That's where headless-browser automation does the job instead: we build the integration against the same AdvancedMD screens a staff member already has a login for, automated instead of manual, scheduled instead of remembered.
That's not a workaround we reach for by default, it's what fills the gap specifically where AdvancedMD's own access controls or Marketplace coverage leave a real workflow unsupported.
What we build around AdvancedMD's API and Marketplace
API-based data sync
Where AdvancedMD grants API access for a specific workflow, pulling appointment data or claim status, for example, we build the sync that keeps that data current in whatever system a practice actually works from.
Browser automation for the rest
For a report, an export, or a status check that only exists inside AdvancedMD's own interface, with no API and no Marketplace app covering it, we automate the clicks so a staff member isn't the one running it every morning.
Already have AdvancedMD API access but nothing built on it yet?
Describe the access you've been granted and the workflow you're trying to automate, and we'll map out the build from there.
Stuck between what AdvancedMD's API covers and what your practice actually needs?
AdvancedMD is one system behind one login. We build the automation for whatever's manual, inside AdvancedMD or anywhere else across the software your practice runs.
