Klaviyo SMS: How Pricing and Setup Actually Work
Klaviyo SMS is a native channel, not a bolted-on add-on, billed by message volume and country, with a dedicated sending phone number you register for your account. It can trigger off the same event-driven Flows email does. It runs into the same limit email does too, the moment the real trigger lives outside Klaviyo's reach.
How Klaviyo SMS pricing and setup actually work
SMS is priced on message volume, with rates varying by destination country, separate from your email sending allowance. Getting started requires registering a dedicated phone number for your account (a process with its own carrier-level compliance requirements, particularly in the US), and collecting SMS-specific opt-in, which, like Mailchimp's SMS, is legally distinct from email consent and can't be assumed from an existing email subscriber.
Once set up, SMS slots into the same Flow builder as email, so an abandoned-cart or post-purchase Flow can include an SMS step alongside or instead of an email, with the same segment and trigger logic underneath.
Current availability leans toward the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, with other regions supported to varying degrees, so check current country coverage before building an SMS-dependent flow for an international audience.
Where SMS Flows hit the same wall email Flows do
An SMS triggered by "Placed Order" that goes out before the order is actually confirmed in your fulfillment system creates the same kind of trust problem a premature shipping email does, worse, since a text reads as more immediate and more personal. The fix is the same one described on our Klaviyo Flows page →: connect the real event, not an approximation of it, to the trigger.
What that looks like built out
An SMS Flow triggered by the real fulfillment event
A shipping text fires when your warehouse or 3PL actually confirms the handoff, not an estimate based on when the order was placed.
Opt-in status tracked accurately across systems
SMS consent captured at checkout or through a loyalty program syncs into Klaviyo as a real, accurate opt-in flag instead of depending on someone re-entering it by hand.
What's your SMS Flow actually waiting on to be accurate?
If the real trigger lives outside Klaviyo, that's a connection we can build.

Tell us what event your SMS Flow is supposed to react to, and where that event actually happens in your business. We'll connect it so the text matches reality. SMS is just one channel; n-frames automates whatever's manual, wherever it actually lives in your business.
