PrestaShop

PrestaShop Tracks Stock. Multi-Location Inventory Is a Different Problem.

PrestaShop's catalog includes basic stock tracking out of the box, and its Advanced Stock Management feature (available since 1.5, still relevant in 1.7) adds warehouses, stock movements, and supplier-level tracking on top of that. It's built for tracking inventory inside PrestaShop. It was never built to keep that number accurate against a warehouse system, a second sales channel, or a physical store running its own point of sale, and that's the part we build.

What PrestaShop's stock features actually cover

Out of the box, every product has a quantity field, and PrestaShop decrements it as orders come in, with options to allow or block backorders and to show an out-of-stock label on the storefront once it hits zero. That's enough for a single-channel store selling only through its own website.

Turn on Advanced Stock Management and PrestaShop adds real warehouses: you can assign stock to specific physical locations, track which warehouse fulfilled which order, and record stock movements (receiving, transferring between warehouses, adjustments) with a history behind each one. It's a genuine multi-location feature, not just a label on a single number.

What it doesn't do is know about stock sitting outside PrestaShop entirely. If the same product also sells on a marketplace, through a wholesale channel, or out of a physical store running a separate point-of-sale system, PrestaShop's warehouse records and that other system's stock count are two separate truths unless something keeps them in sync.

“In stock” stops being a safe answer at exactly this point

The oversell problem shows up right at that seam: a product shows available in PrestaShop because nobody's told it that the last two units just sold on a marketplace listing or walked out the door of the physical store. By the time someone notices, there's a refund, an apology email, and a customer who isn't coming back.

The usual stopgap is a recurring manual stock count, someone exporting numbers from each system and reconciling them in a spreadsheet once a day or once a week. It works until it doesn't, and the gap between counts is exactly the window where an oversell happens.

What we build on top of PrestaShop's stock management

Two-way stock sync across every channel you sell on

A sale on PrestaShop, a marketplace listing, or a physical POS updates the same underlying stock number everywhere else within minutes, not at the next scheduled export.

Warehouse and fulfillment data routed where it’s needed

Stock movements and warehouse assignments recorded inside PrestaShop's Advanced Stock Management feed straight into a 3PL or fulfillment system, so a transfer or a receipt doesn't need to be re-entered a second time.

Selling the same product in more places than PrestaShop can see?

Tell us every place that product's stock number actually lives, and we'll build the connection that keeps them all telling the truth.

Still reconciling PrestaShop's stock count against a spreadsheet?

Tell us which channels are drawing from the same inventory and we'll build the sync that keeps them matched automatically. Inventory is just one example of what breaks when a business runs more than one system; we handle the same kind of mismatch anywhere else it shows up too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does PrestaShop support multiple warehouses?+
Yes, through the Advanced Stock Management feature. You can define separate warehouses, assign stock to each one, and track movements between them, including which warehouse fulfilled a given order.
Can PrestaShop track inventory across more than one sales channel?+
Not on its own. PrestaShop only knows about stock changes that happen inside PrestaShop itself. If you're also selling through a marketplace, a wholesale channel, or a physical store, keeping one accurate number across all of them requires a sync built on top of PrestaShop, not a setting inside it.
How do I stop PrestaShop from overselling out-of-stock items?+
PrestaShop can block orders once a product hits zero, under the product's quantity settings, by disabling backorders, which prevents overselling within PrestaShop itself. It can't prevent an oversell caused by a sale happening somewhere else that hasn't been reflected in PrestaShop's stock count yet.
What's the difference between basic stock tracking and Advanced Stock Management in PrestaShop?+
Basic tracking is a single quantity number per product. Advanced Stock Management adds real warehouses, per-location stock, supplier tracking, and a movement history, built for stores that fulfill from more than one physical location.
Can n-frames set up PrestaShop's warehouse features for me?+
Configuring PrestaShop's own warehouse and stock settings is store-setup work, usually handled by whoever built or maintains your store. What we build is the sync between PrestaShop's stock numbers and whatever else your business runs, a second channel, a 3PL, a physical POS, so that number stays accurate everywhere at once.
