FreshBooks' Timer Tracks the Hours. Billing Them Is a Separate Step.
FreshBooks includes a built-in timer on the web, in its mobile app, and through a Chrome extension that logs time against a specific client and project, plus a mobile mileage tracker for trips you need to bill or expense. Tracked time becomes a billable line item on an invoice with one click, but only for the hours actually logged inside FreshBooks itself.
How FreshBooks' own time tracking works
The timer attaches to a project and a client before you start it, so there's no sorting step later, the hours already know where they belong. The Chrome extension does the same thing from inside whatever tab you're actually working in, so you're not switching over to FreshBooks just to start a clock.
The mobile app adds GPS-based mileage tracking: start a trip, FreshBooks logs the distance, and you tag it to the client or project it was for. Both tracked time and tracked mileage roll straight into an invoice as line items instead of needing to be typed in from a separate note.
Where it stops covering the whole team
This works cleanly for a freelancer running their own hours through FreshBooks. It breaks down the moment a team already tracks time somewhere else, a project tool like Asana or Trello, a dedicated time tracker, or a field-service app, because none of that logged time shows up in FreshBooks on its own. Someone ends up re-entering a week's worth of hours by hand just to get them billed, which defeats the point of tracking them accurately in the first place.
Mileage has a quieter version of the same gap. It's logged correctly on the phone, but matching it to the right reimbursement category or tax treatment outside FreshBooks is still a manual lookup for whoever closes the books.
What We Build on Top of FreshBooks Time Tracking
Hours logged elsewhere, billed through FreshBooks automatically
Time tracked in your team's actual project tool gets pulled into FreshBooks and turned into invoice line items for the right client, so nobody retypes a timesheet at the end of the week just to get it billed.
Mileage matched to the right client without a lookup
Trips logged in the mobile app get tagged and routed to the correct project or expense category automatically, instead of someone cross-checking a mileage log against client records by hand.
Where does your team actually log hours right now?
If it's not FreshBooks, that's usually the gap. Tell us what tool your team already uses to track time, and we'll look at what it'd actually take to connect it.
Tracking time in FreshBooks, or in something else entirely, and still re-entering hours to bill them?
Tell us where your team's hours actually get logged first, and we'll tell you what it takes to get them into FreshBooks without the manual re-entry. And if time tracking isn't your real bottleneck, that's fine too, n-frames automates whatever's manual in your business, FreshBooks or otherwise.
