Updox Delivers the Fax Inside Practice Fusion. Routing It From There Is On You.
Updox is built directly into Practice Fusion for secure fax, direct provider-to-provider messaging, and patient reminders, included as part of the EHR rather than sold as a separate product a practice has to set up on its own. What Updox doesn't do is decide what happens to a fax or message once it arrives: that's still a person reading it and deciding where it needs to go. We build the automation that takes over from there.
What Updox does inside Practice Fusion
Updox gives Practice Fusion secure fax sending and receiving, direct messaging between providers, and patient-facing reminders and messages, all inside the same login practices already use for charting. There's no separate Updox account to create or extra subscription to buy, it's part of what Practice Fusion includes.
That makes it genuinely convenient for the clinical side. What it doesn't change is how a practice handles the volume: a referral fax, a lab result fax, a provider message, all still land in the same inbox and still need someone to read each one and route it correctly.
Where a fax still depends on someone noticing it
A referral fax that comes in through Updox sits there until someone opens it, decides it's a new patient, and manually starts the process of getting them scheduled. The same is true for a message that's actually a billing question or a reschedule request, it waits for whoever happens to be checking Updox that day.
Neither Updox nor Practice Fusion exposes fax or message content through an API a practice can build against directly, so automating what happens next means working with the same inbox a staff member already has access to, just on autopilot instead of waiting for a free moment between patients.
What we build around Practice Fusion's Updox inbox
Referral fax routing
A referral fax that lands in Updox can trigger a new entry in a referral tracker or a task for whoever schedules new patients, instead of sitting in the fax inbox until someone opens it.
Message forwarding to billing or scheduling
A secure message that's really a billing question or a reschedule request gets flagged and routed to the right person automatically, instead of waiting for whoever happens to open Updox that day.
Faxes and messages landing in Updox with nobody watching?
Tell us what should happen the moment one arrives, a task, an alert, an update somewhere else, and we'll build the automation that catches it instead of a person.
Charting in Practice Fusion and still reading every fax by hand?
Updox is one piece of what comes into your practice each day. We build the automation for the rest of it too, billing handoffs, referral tracking, or anything else that currently depends on someone noticing.
