Sugar Connect Puts Sugar in Your Inbox. It Doesn't Put Your Inbox in Everything Else.
Sugar Connect is SugarCRM's own email integration, a plugin that sits inside Outlook or Gmail, shows you the Sugar record behind whoever you're emailing, and logs that email activity against the right contact or account automatically. It genuinely solves the problem it was built for. What it doesn't do is carry that activity, or anything else happening in your inbox, out to the other systems your business runs, which is the part we build.
What Sugar Connect actually covers
Inside Outlook or Gmail, Sugar Connect shows the matching Sugar contact or account right next to the email you're reading, and logs the message against that record without you having to switch screens or forward anything into Sugar manually. For a sales or support team that lives in their inbox most of the day, that alone removes a lot of manual logging.
Exactly what's included and on which Sugar plan changes over time, so check your current Sugar subscription or sugarcrm.com directly if you're not sure Sugar Connect is part of what you're already paying for.
Where the connection stops
Sugar Connect keeps email activity inside Sugar. It doesn't push that activity, or any other Sugar data, into a project tool, a billing system, or an e-commerce platform. We see real searches for exactly that gap: connecting Sugar to a project tool like Basecamp so a closed deal creates the matching project automatically, or tying Sugar to an e-commerce setup so an order updates the account record without someone copying numbers over by hand.
None of that is native. It's custom work built against Sugar's REST API on one side and whatever system needs to receive the data on the other, which is where we come in once Sugar Connect has done its part.
Sugar Connect logging your email, but nothing past that connecting automatically?
Tell us what should happen once an email, a closed deal, or an order shows up, whether that's a project kicking off, a bill going out, or a record updating somewhere else. We'll map what the Sugar API can move automatically. Sugar's email integration is solid at the one job it does, the rest of the business is usually where the real manual work still sits.
