A Lot of Patients Still Call It the Kareo Patient Portal. It's Tebra Now, and Mostly the Same Gaps
Tebra's patient portal, built on the same patient-facing portal Kareo offered before the 2022 rebrand, lets patients request appointments, message the practice, complete intake forms, and pay bills online. It's a solid piece of the patient experience. What it doesn't do by itself is sign patients up automatically, sort incoming messages, or tell the rest of the practice's systems that something happened, which is where we build.
What the Tebra Patient Portal Handles
Patients use the portal to request or confirm an appointment, send a message to the practice, fill out intake paperwork ahead of a visit, and pay an outstanding balance without a phone call.
Because Tebra carried most of Kareo's patient-facing functionality forward through the rebrand, a practice that migrated from Kareo generally sees the same portal behavior, just under the newer Tebra name and sometimes a refreshed login page.
Where Someone Still Has to Step In
New patients don't land in the portal automatically. Someone has to send the invite, and if that step gets skipped, the patient's back to a paper form at the front desk. Once a patient is in, messages and requests sit in a queue that a staff member has to check and sort manually, there's no built-in logic routing a billing question differently than an appointment request.
Practices still searching for the Kareo portal after the rebrand also run into real confusion: patients see a different login page than they remember and assume something broke, instead of understanding it's the same account under a new name.
What We Build on Top of the Tebra Patient Portal
Portal invites that go out the moment a patient is scheduled
We trigger the sign-up invite automatically when a new patient's first appointment gets booked, so intake forms are waiting in the portal instead of depending on someone remembering to send a link.
Incoming messages that reach the right person without a manual sort
We route portal messages by type, billing to billing, scheduling requests to the front desk, so the queue doesn't depend on one person reading everything in order to figure out where it belongs.

Running Tebra's Patient Portal and Still Sorting Requests by Hand?
The portal already does the hard part of getting information from patients. Getting that information to the right place without a manual check is the piece we build, and it's the same kind of work we do on top of whatever else your practice runs, not just Tebra.
