Adyen Supports Dozens of Payment Methods. Getting the Right Ones in Front of the Right Customer Takes Setup.
Adyen's unified API covers major card networks, digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, buy-now-pay-later options like Klarna, and a long list of regional and local payment methods, all through one account instead of a separate integration per method. Which of those actually show up at checkout depends on what's enabled for your merchant account and what your front-end component is set to render. We build the logic that decides what shows up when, by region, order value, or customer type, and connects whichever method actually got used back into one reconciled picture.
What actually controls which payment methods a customer sees
Enabling a payment method at the account level, through Adyen's dashboard or its Management API, is one layer. What your front-end checkout component is configured to render is a second, separate layer, Drop-in shows a simpler default set, while the more customizable Adyen Web components give you control over what appears and in what order.
Several methods need their own setup before they'll actually show up live even once technically enabled. Apple Pay needs a registered merchant ID and domain verification. Klarna and other buy-now-pay-later options generally need their own onboarding process completed first.
Where this gets manual
A business selling across several regions usually wants different payment methods visible in different markets, iDEAL for Dutch customers, a specific wallet elsewhere, rather than showing every enabled method everywhere regardless of whether it'll actually work for that customer.
Reconciling a mix of cards, wallets, and buy-now-pay-later methods into one clean revenue number at the end of the period usually means someone manually separating transactions by method type first, since each settles differently and on its own schedule.
What this looks like built
Region-aware checkout, not a one-size-fits-all list
Which payment methods render at checkout adjusts automatically by shipping country or currency, instead of showing every enabled method to every customer regardless of relevance.
One revenue view across every method
Card, wallet, and buy-now-pay-later transactions land in the same reconciled report by settlement date, so finance isn't manually separating a Klarna payout from a card settlement before the numbers make sense.
Running more payment methods through Adyen than your reporting actually accounts for?
Tell us which methods you're running and where the numbers stop lining up, and we'll take it from there.
Adyen supporting a payment method isn't the same as your books handling it well.
Every method you add is one more thing someone has to reconcile separately, unless it's built to land in one place automatically. Tell us where that breaks down for you, and if payment methods aren't actually your bottleneck, that's fine too; we build on top of whatever's running your business.
