Freshdesk Tracks Contacts. That Doesn't Make It a CRM.

Freshdesk stores contacts, companies, and their ticket history, which looks CRM-adjacent on the surface, but it has no deal stages, no pipeline, and no forecasting. It's a help desk, built around tickets, not a sales tool built around opportunities. Most businesses running Freshdesk end up pairing it with an actual CRM, Salesforce, HubSpot, or Freshworks' own Freshsales, and the real question isn't whether Freshdesk can replace one, it's how cleanly the two talk to each other.

What Freshdesk actually tracks, and what it doesn't

A Freshdesk contact record holds a name, company, ticket history, and whatever custom fields you've added, which is enough for an agent to see who they're talking to and what's come up before. What it doesn't hold is a sales pipeline: no deal stages, no opportunity amounts, no forecasting, none of the structure a sales team actually lives in day to day.

Freshworks sells its own CRM, Freshsales, as a separate product, and the two have a native integration that shows each one's record as a sidebar inside the other. That covers visibility well. It doesn't make Freshdesk into a CRM any more than a contacts list in any app would.

Connecting Freshdesk to the CRM you actually use

If your business runs Salesforce or HubSpot instead of Freshsales, Freshdesk's Marketplace has listed apps for both that sync contact records and surface account data as a sidebar in each system. That's a real, working starting point, and it's often all a smaller team needs: an agent sees deal stage or account tier without leaving the ticket.

Where it stops is anything that needs the two systems to act on each other, not just display each other's data side by side. A support ticket closing doesn't change a deal's stage. A deal closing in the CRM doesn't automatically create the right kind of onboarding ticket in Freshdesk, with account and contract details already attached. That's the gap custom integration work closes, and it's the same gap whether the CRM on the other end is Salesforce, HubSpot, or Freshsales itself.

What that connection actually looks like

Support activity that changes how sales treats an account

An account sitting on multiple open, serious tickets gets flagged in the CRM automatically, so a rep doesn't pitch an upsell to someone who's currently frustrated with the product.

A closed deal that kicks off the right ticket

A deal marked Won creates an onboarding ticket in Freshdesk automatically, tagged correctly and carrying the plan and contract details, instead of a new customer's first support interaction being them re-explaining what they bought.

What doesn't your CRM know about a customer's support history right now?

Tell us what a rep has to go ask support about informally before a renewal or upsell call, and we'll map out what's worth automating.

Running Freshdesk and a CRM side by side, and still bridging them yourself?

Tell us which CRM you're actually running and what should happen automatically between it and Freshdesk, a flag on an account, a ticket created from a closed deal, a status that should sync both ways. We'll scope what's genuinely possible to build. And if the gap costing you time sits somewhere else in the business, we close that one just as readily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Freshdesk a CRM?+
No. Freshdesk tracks tickets, contacts, and companies, but it has no deal pipeline, stages, or forecasting, the core structure a CRM is actually built around. It's a help desk that happens to store contact data, not a sales tool.
What's the difference between Freshdesk and Freshsales?+
Both are Freshworks products, but Freshdesk is the support help desk and Freshsales is the separate CRM, built around deals and pipeline. They connect through a native integration, but they're different tools with different data models underneath.
Does Freshdesk come with Freshsales included?+
No, they're priced and sold separately, though Freshworks bundles both into some of its suite plans. A standalone Freshdesk subscription doesn't include Freshsales access on its own.
Can I connect Freshdesk to Salesforce or HubSpot?+
Yes, Freshdesk's Marketplace has listed apps for both that sync contact records and show account data as a sidebar in each system. We cover what those apps actually do and don't do on the integrations page →
Does closing a deal in my CRM automatically create a Freshdesk ticket?+
Not on its own, whether the CRM is Salesforce, HubSpot, or Freshsales. That's custom automation built on top of the native sync, not something any of the out-of-the-box integrations do by default.
