Gusto's Time Clock Covers the Basics. Multi-Location Hourly Staff Push Past It.
Gusto includes a built-in time clock: hourly employees clock in and out from the web or Gusto's mobile app, approved hours feed directly into the next payroll run, and PTO balances track automatically against whatever policy you've set. For a single location with staff on phones or a shared computer, that covers the job on its own. It gets thinner once a business runs multiple sites, dedicated time-clock hardware, or staff who clock in through a tool that isn't Gusto at all.
Where a second time-tracking system creeps back in
A retail or warehouse location with a wall-mounted badge clock, or a field-service crew clocking in through a job-dispatch app, isn't using Gusto's own clock at all, even though their hours still need to land in Gusto before payroll runs. Someone ends up exporting that data and importing it, or just typing totals in by hand, every pay period.
PTO tracking has a smaller version of the same problem: Gusto tracks the balance correctly, but if a manager approves time off somewhere else first, a scheduling tool, a shared calendar, a Slack message, that approval doesn't automatically update what Gusto shows until someone logs in and enters it.
What We Build Around Gusto's Time Tracking
Clock-in data from hardware Gusto doesn't make
If one or more locations run a badge clock, biometric reader, or job-dispatch app instead of Gusto's own clock, we pull those hours into Gusto automatically ahead of each pay run, so nobody's reconciling a separate export before payroll.
PTO balances that stay accurate everywhere people look
When time off gets approved in a scheduling tool or a shared calendar before it ever touches Gusto, we sync that approval into Gusto's PTO tracking the same day, instead of leaving the balance stale until someone remembers to update it.
Still exporting hours from somewhere else into Gusto?
Tell us what your hourly staff actually clock in through, and we'll map out whether it can feed Gusto on its own.
Gusto's time clock working fine for one site, but not for the rest of your business?
Tell us what hardware or app your other locations or crews actually use to track hours, and we'll look at getting that data into Gusto without the manual export step. And if time tracking isn't your real bottleneck, we build automation around whatever part of the business actually is.
