Jira comes with a set of built-in reports, sprint reports, burndown and velocity charts, cumulative flow diagrams, plus dashboards you build yourself from gadgets, many of them backed by a saved JQL filter. They're genuinely useful for tracking engineering work. They have no way to show anything that isn't already inside Jira.

What Jira's reports actually show you

Sprint reports and burndown charts live under a project's Reports section, tracking how work completed against what was planned for a given sprint. Velocity charts track that trend across multiple sprints.

Cumulative flow diagrams show how issues are distributed across statuses over time, useful for spotting where work is piling up in a workflow.

Dashboards are built from gadgets you add and arrange yourself, and a lot of the more useful ones are backed by a saved JQL filter rather than a fixed report type, so the gadget shows exactly the subset of issues you care about.

Where the picture stays incomplete

Every one of these reports only sees Jira's own data. The moment someone wants sprint velocity shown next to revenue, or bug volume next to support ticket count from a separate helpdesk, Jira's built-in reporting has nothing to say.

Most teams solve that today by exporting to a spreadsheet and rebuilding the comparison by hand, every single reporting cycle.
